Dr. Westphal Named Next Assistant Superintendent
The School Board has approved Dr. Michele Westphal as the District's next assistant superintendent.
The Lampeter-Strasburg Board of School Directors is pleased to announce that Dr. Michele Westphal has been approved as the District's next assistant superintendent, effective July 1, 2025. She will replace Dr. Andrew Godfrey, who will retire at the end of this year after 19 years with the District, including 14 as assistant superintendent.
“I am truly honored to have this opportunity to serve the students, staff, and families of the entire Lampeter-Strasburg School District,” said Dr. Westphal. “I have gotten to work with many people and on many different projects through the roles that I have had in the District. I now look forward to expanding the scope of the work that I will do to support student growth and achievement across the District.”
Dr. Westphal joined L-S as an assistant high school principal in 2016 and has been serving as the K-2 principal since 2020, leading both Lampeter Elementary School and the newly-opened Lampeter-Strasburg Early Childhood Center. Her career in education includes time spent as a K-12 Curriculum and Instruction Consultant for STEM, a high school mathematics content specialist, and more than a decade as a high school mathematics teacher.
"I first got to know Dr. Westphal when she was an IU 13 instructional coach during the implementation of our hybrid learning program," said Dr. Kevin Peart, superintendent. "She's been an integral part of the L-S administration team for nearly a decade. Our District benefits from her wealth of experience and knowledge, and she will make an excellent assistant superintendent."
Dr. Westphal will oversee the District's curriculum and instruction program, professional development, child accounting, reporting and assessment, and more in her new role. The search for a new Lampeter Elementary School and L-S Early Childhood Center principal is underway.
